Gary Lynn ALEXANDER was born on September 5, 1952 and passed away on January 28, 2020.

Sgt Gary Alexander was born in Hays, Kansas on September 5, 1952. He graduated from Bushton High School in 1970. After graduation, he studied criminology for a year at Barton County Community College before enlisting in the United States Air Force on October 2, 1972. Upon completion of technical training at Lowry AFB, CO, he was assigned to initially talked to manage Bench Stock, and from there he transitioned to After-Hour Support where he continued to build his skills and knowledge base. After a year and a half, he was assigned to Supply COSESS in the Civil Engineering Squadron.

In April of 1975, MSgt Alexander joined the Kansas Air National Guard where he worked in Supply, focusing on management and procedures under the direction of then MSgt Joe Riddle. In March of 1976, he separated from the Kansas Air National Guard to focus on his civilian career with UPS.

In April 1982, MSgt Alexander returned to the Kansas Air National Guard and was reunited with MSgt Riddle in the Management and Procedures Flight. In May 1997, MSgt Alexander accepted an AGR position within the LRS. In 2007, he became the NCOIC of Customer Service Support, where he continued to work until his retirement. MSgt Alexander has had a long and distinguished career. Some of the supervisors he has had the pleasure of working for were CMSgt Joe Riddle, SMSgt Boyd Jones, SMSgt Greg Hennes, SMSgt Jim Marklevits, SMSgt Brian York, and SMSgt Jay Honey.

MSgt Alexander's military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with two devices, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with five devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one device, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with eight devices, National Defense Service Medal with two devices, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with one device, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, the Kansas National Guard Meritorious Service Ribbon and the Kansas Air National Guard Service Medal with two devices.

MSgt Alexander married his wife, TeCoa (Sargent), in August 1972, They have two children; a daughter, Traci Timmerman and her husband Mark and son, Hunter Alexander, Sr.. They are blessed with five grandchildren, Kraig Mans, Paige Mans, Mason Timmermann, Hunter Alexander, Jr., and Aubrey Alexander. He is also survived by brothers, Greg Alexander and his wife Angi; brother-in-law, Grant L. Sargent and his wife M. Jane; sister, Lois Gitchell and her husband Raymond; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Gary was born in Hays, KS to parents, Donald and Nadine Alexander. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as an Inventory Management Specialist and as a driver with the United Parcel Service. Gary was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gary was also a devoted member of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Craig Alexander.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 1758 S. Webb Rd., Wichita, KS 67207.

Interment with full military honors will take place at 1:00 pm, following service, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
