Darrell D. Burrill, 81, of Aledo, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Following visitation, Darrell's wishes are to be cremated. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association or to the family.

Darrell Dean was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Corning, Iowa, to Elmer G. and Vera A. Heaton Burrill. He married Marie Watkins on June 8, 1957, in Hamlet, Ill.

Darrell was a dedicated 35-year employee of Eagle Food Company. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 371. Darrell was a loyal fan of the Aledo Green Dragons, especially when his children were in school. He also enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and cars and was a devotee of the old county-western song era. Darrell also like going camping, antique cars and attending the Old Threshers Reunions.

Those left to cherish Darrell's memory include his wife, Marie; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Kenny Franks, Annette Burrill-Ceckanowicz and Christine and Scott Wheeler, all of Aledo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Glen (Delphia Skinner) Burrill, Rock Island, Carrol (Joe Cassidy) Anderson, Coyne Center; and sister-in-law, Irma Burrill, Rock Island. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and special pets, Champion and Lucy, and a special friend and caretaker, Diane Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucille DeWitt and Luella McKelvey-Fackler; and a brother, Charles Burrill, who died one year ago to the day, March 7, 2016.
