Catherine was the daughter of John THOMSON (1755-after 1841) and Janet MORRISON (before 1760-before 1841).

Her death record states that Catherine, the widow of William WILLIAMSON, was the daughter of John THOMSON, deceased farmer, and Janet MORRISON, deceased [General Register of Deaths Index Scotland, 1861-1876]. She died of an illness that lasted several months. The informant was her son, Andrew, of Heglibister, Weisdale. She was enumerated with her husband and family in 1841 at Gardy. I did not find a record for the marriage of Catherine's parents in the Old Parish Registers in Scotland [ScotlandsPeople website].

Moulla (Mulla?)is located several miles north of Gardie.

Catherine was born at Delting circa 1784; died at Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, on 19 June 1876, aged 92 years [Scottish Censuses; General Register of Deaths Index Scotland, 1861-1876; 1876 Whiteness & Weisdale, Co. Shetland (10/12)].

Judging from the birthplace of their youngest son Andrew and other records listed in the following William and Catherine likely moved to Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, by 1819, and spent the remainder of their lives there.

In a summons recorded or dated on 27 September 1831, William is listed as a resident at Gardie at Hamrigarth, in a case brought by John Scott, Esq., of Scalloway [Shetland Archives Catalog, CSC12/6/1831/127].

Her husband, William, is listed at Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, Tingwall as the male head of the family In the 1837 census for 1834 Church of Scotland Veto Act.

In the 1841 Scottish Census of Co. Shetland for Gardy, Parish of Weisdale, we find William, 55, agricultural laborer (ag. lab.), Catherine Thompson, 55, son, Magnus, 28, son, Andrew, 20, daughter, Barbara, 14, and nephew (grandson), Arthur, 6, all natives of Shetland (Census 10/8/2)

In the 1851 Scottish Census of Co. Shetland for Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, we find William, 68, farmer of 4 acres, wife Catherine, 66, daughter, Elisabeth, 40, farm laborer, son, Magnus, 38, farm laborer, daughter, Barbara, 23, farm laborer, and nephew (grandson), Arthur, 16, scholar, all born in Delting except for Barbara and Arthur, born in Tingwall (Census 10/11/15).

Her husband, William, is listed as a tenant on the Valuation Roll of 1855, for Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, Tingwall.

In the 1861 Scottish Census of Co. Shetland at Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, we find William, 78, shoemaker, wife Catherine, 76, son, Magnus, 46, daughter, and Barbara, 32, farmer's daughter, all born in Delting except Barbara born in Tingwall (Census 10/1/2).

Her husband, William is listed as a tenant on the Valuation Roll of 1865, on Farm Gardie, Parish of Weisdale, Tingwall.

In the 1871 Scottish Census of Co. Shetland at Gardie, Weisdale, Civil Parish of Tingwall, we find William, 88, pauper, wife Catherine, 87, pauper, son, Magnus, 58, pauper and imbecile, daughter, Barbara, 39, farm laborer (Census 010/2 1/6, page 6 of 17). All were natives of Delting except for Barbara, a native of Tingwall.
