Allen “Bud” Dirks was born at home to Herman and Fannie (Ennenga) Dirks on July 18, 1939, in Fulda, MN. By 1945, his family moved to Norcross, where Bud attended District 56 Country School through the eighth grade. His family moved to a farm near Bertha and later he and his parents moved to Hewitt.

Bud was a talented woodworker and did carpentry work with his dad and brother, Don. Time away from work found Bud mowing and snow-blowing according to the seasons, fishing, and helping family and friends. Most of all, he loved time spent with his family at his favorite place, the family lake home! In years past, Bud was a volunteer member of the Hewitt Fire Department and served with the Hewitt City Council.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Fannie.
