Dolores was born on September 2, 1926 in Canton, SD to Harvey and Edna (Gran) Menholt.  She married Dale Ness on December 6, 1943.  To this union Linda, Deanna, Laurie, Jane, and Jeff were born.  Dale died on January 8, 1963.  She married Alvin Larson on November 24, 1964. To this union Bonnie was born.  In addition to raising her family, Dolores worked at Otis Radio and K-Products.  The couple farmed north of Canton until retiring in 1993.  Alvin died on September 19, 2008.
Dolores was a strong and determined woman but had a soft heart and a “get it done” attitude.   She was a great listener and was the caregiver to many in her family. She enjoyed being around people, was an active member of the Sons of Norway, and was a life-long member of Canton Lutheran Church where she participated in WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), Ruth Circle, and Care and Share Quilting.  She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and in her younger years, bowling and 4-H.  She loved spending time with her family, especially attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Grateful for sharing her life are her children, Linda (Craig) Ness VanBockern, Canton, SD; Deanna (Dennis) Ness Ridpath, Choctaw, OK; Laurie (Henry) Huyser, Inwood, IA; Jane (Rory) Hermsen, Freeman, SD; Jeff Larson, Sioux Falls, SD; and Bonnie (Thomas) Higgins, Park Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Shane (Nicole) Van Bockern, Jill (the late Chad Johnson) Johnson, Denise Ridpath, Debra (Patrick) Tielborg, Darek (Brandi) Ridpath, Brent (Gina) Huyser, Heather (Gary) Brands, Lucas Huyser, Tyler Larson, Bryant Larson, Chelsie Hermsen, Brooke Hermsen, Chet Hermsen and Taylor Hermsen; 13 great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.
