The daughter of Thomas and Mary Keys, Sarah married William Alcorn in County Tyrone in about 1845. She and William emigrated to the colony in 1851 with their 3 (three), children, William, Robert, and Agnes. Traveling as assisted immigrants the family arrived in Port Jackson, Sydney on 8 Oct 1851 on the ship "Kate".

Sarah and William had 6 (six), children. William James, Robert, Agnes, Mary Jane, b. Sarah, and Thomas Theodore.
