On 21 January 1902 Pte McCorkell died of enteric fever at Wakkerstroom, South Africa.∼727 Private John McCorkell, 5th Victorian Mounted Rifles. Son of William McCorkell & Martha McKorkell (nee Heart). He volunteered for service in South Africa during the Second Anglo Boer War. He died from enteric fever (typhoid) at 12 Stationary Hospital, Wakkerstroom on 21 Jan 1902.
