Born on Thursday, Died on Friday
Aged 90 years, 11 months, 1 day.

Robert L. "Bob" Davis, age 90, of Dowling, passed away on Friday evening, April 27, 2018. He was born in Battle Creek on May 26, 1927 to Clayton A. and Ellen (Martin) Davis. On September 17, 1949, Bob married Virginia L. "Ginnie" Pratt at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (where they both were members). Together, "Bob and Ginnie" treasured 67 years of marriage (with the past 25 years as "snow birds" in Englewood, Florida). She sadly preceded him in death on June 6, 2016.

Bob graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He then served in the United States Navy (South Pacific) during WWII as a "MM3C". Bob then graduated from the General Motors Institute and was employed at DeNooyer Chevrolet in Battle Creek for more than 36 years, retiring as the Director of the Parts & Service Departments. Bob was always interested in the next project, and helping his family, friends, and neighbors.

Bob is survived by one son, Chuck (Sandy) Davis of Battle Creek; one daughter, Ellen (Steve Johnson) Davis of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania; one grandson, Matt Davis; one granddaughter, Maria Johnson Davis; one great-grandson, Collin; and a nephew, Bob (Sue) Davis of Tampa, Florida. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Clayton A. Davis, Jr.

In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be no services. A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice of Kalamazoo would be appreciated. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
