Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Akers died Saturday, July 28, at St. Joseph's hospital in Keokuk, aged 41 years.

She lived in Stillwell until about three years ago, when she moved to Carthage with her husband, Wesley Akers, and family of eight children. Five boys: Steven, Alvan, Marian, Willis, and Ralph; and three girls: Ellen, Pauline, and Ora May.

The oldest son is in the first draft for the U. S. Army. Mrs. Akers was taken sick eleven weeks ago with rheumatism and nervousness, and became so much worse that three weeks ago, she was taken to St. Joseph's hospital in Keokuk, where she died.

The funeral was held from the late home Monday, July 30, at 2:30 o'clock. Reverend E. M. Smith officiated. Interment was in Moss Ridge cemetery.

Carthage, Ill., July 31. - Mrs. Elisabeth Akers, who died at St. Joseph's hospital in Keokuk, Iowa, Saturday night at nine o'clock, was brought to her home in this city, Sunday and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at three o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. E.M. Smith and burial in Moss Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Akers was born in Columbus township, Adams county, on December 10, 1875, and died July 28, 1917. She was the daughter of Douglass and Martha Lake and was married to Wesley Akers, November 28, 1892. To the union were born nine children, eight of whom survive with the father. Mrs. Akers leaves in addition to her husband and children three sisters and one brother, Mrs. H.C. Lee, of Rock Island, Mr. Jerome Smith of Avon, Ill., Mrs. Charles Clothier of La Salle, Ill., and Stephen Lake of Avon, Ill.
