Verna M. Winn
August 10, 1924 - August 27, 2016

Verna Mae Winn born August 10, 1924 in Monroe, Washington to Helena Schrag and Peter Schrag. Not soon after her birth, the family moved to Independence, Oregon. Where there she was raised with her brother Herman Scharg on their farm.

Verna married Ernest Winn Nov. 28th, 1944 in Stockton, California. They moved back to the Salem area where they lived most of their lifes. Daughter Carol was born in 1945, and son John was born in 1946.

Mom was a homemaker who loved being home for her family. Cooked a lot of meals for us, and raised lots of corn thru out the years, as well as other vegs. She also loved to work in her flower beds. Her most favorite flower being the iris. She had a kind heart, loved her family, loved her dogs.

She loved to collect salt and peppers and figurines. She also had quite the library of her own items she found of interest. Articles cut out of magazines, newspapers, flyers, all in alphabetical order. It was amazing to see it all when we had to mover her to a smaller place. She would go to Antique shows with the family and find some treasures to buy, as well as at garage sales. She was a member of a Salt and Pepper club too. She loved to go on drives in the country each season to see what the farmers were working on in their fields. Then go out to eat or stop for some ice-cream. She loved the seasonal colors of nature and how they progressed from spring to winter. And each Christmas we took her for drives at night to see all the Christmas lights and decorations.

She loved when family would come over for meals and play different types of games. She had a hard time keeping up as to what each game was about, but she would give it a shot, just to be with her kids and grandkids and later her great grandkids. There was lots of laughter, talk of past family members and life in general.

She had 3 Pomeranian dogs that she loved a lot too. She lived in her own house till last year.

Daughter Carol married Jim Cook and they had a son, Melvin and daughter Tamara. Tamara married David Rodriguez.

Son John married Vickey and they had a son, Jacob (Jake). Jake married Rhonda and they have 2 sons, Emmett and Jack.

Verna's parents have been deceased, as well as her brother Herman, husband Ernest passed in 1987.

She will be greatly missed by all.
