In 1885 he moved to Seamo near Oak Point, Manitoba; worked as a postmaster, storekeeper and secretary-treasurer for the RM of Posen; and 16 years later moved to Edrans. In Edrans, he worked as Police Magistrate, police commissioner, school trustee, immigration agent, railroad signalman, telegrapher, insurance agent and municipal assessor.
He was active in the Provincial Conservative Party.
