Edna L. Bennett, 88, of 20 Center Street., Frewsburg, NY passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at UPMC Chautauqua. She was born September 11, 1930, in Kiantone, NY, the daughter of Merle and Lois Woodward Houghwot. Edna was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Frewsburg, NY where she was the Bell Ringer, Sunday School Superintendent and she worked in the nursery. Edna is survived by her children: Larry Houghwot, Reba Bennett and Harold Bennett Jr. of Frewsburg, and Verna (Dennis) Cline of Kinston, NC; a granddaughter, Tammy Ingerson who she raised; four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Richard) Warner of Sugar Grove, PA. Edna was pre-deceased by her husband, Harold Bennett Sr.; a son, Loury Houghwot; three sisters: Clara Moore, Jean Green, and Evelyn Houghwot; four brothers: Harold, Merle, Lyle, Norman and Russell Houghwot. The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg, NY. The Rev. Nicholas Cultrara, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Frewsburg, NY and Pastor Carol Becker of the Wheeler Hill Church officiated. Burial was in the Fentonville Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY.
