Calvin “Duke” Robert Morris, 79, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home. Funeral services were held on January 15, 2020 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Scott Cemetery in Amsterdam, MO.
Duke was born September 10, 1940 in Belton, MO, a son of Gerald Wade and Marie Matilda (Edwards) Morris. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1959 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Dukes father, Gerald, built the skating rink in Harrisonville in 1954 and he and Duke ran the rink until selling to Ed and Carol Bohl in 1979. He also owned and operated Duke’s Barber Shops in Peculiar, Raymore and Harrisonville until his retirement in 2002. Duke also operated Duke’s Fireworks in Harrisonville for 49 years. Duke was an Air Force Veteran, and charter member of Cass County Elks Lodge #2791, Harrisonville. He married Connie Ann Henrickson February 25, 1966 Independence, Jackson, MO.
Duke was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three sons, Donnie Otis (Jayne), Wichita, KS, Robert Morris (Jennifer), Lenexa, KS, and Paul Morris (Teresa), Lancaster, CA; one brother, G. W. Morris, Jr., Carl Junction, MO, and three grandchildren, Cassandra Morris, Adam Morris, and Grace Morris.
