Services for Ms. Doris Jordan, 84, who died Nov. 24, were held Dec. 2 at St. John Baptist Church in Lumber City.
The Rev. Joseph McLeod Sr., Evangelist Willie Cray, and Bishop Williams Hollis officiated with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Ms. Jordan, born in Lumber City, was the daughter of Vollie B. Garrett and the Rev. Luther A. Robinson. She was educated in Lumber City School System and graduated with honors in 1955. She worked for a sewing factory in Hazlehurst. She was an active member of St. John Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed cleaning and working in her yard. Preceding her in death were her mother and father; daughter, Candace Jordan; sister, Ophelia Duncan; brothers, Luther Jr. Harry, Jackie, Darryl, and Anthony Robinson.
Survivors include her daughters, Gwendolyn J. (Rodney T.) Robinson of Louisville, KY, Brenda Conaway of Lumber City, Janice (Willie) Cray of Alamo, and Lajuana Jordan of Lumber City; four sisters, Tommie Lee Fisher of Okeechobee, FL, Sandra Walker of Havanna, FL, Vollie V. Smith of Eastman and Betty Jean Maloy of Lumber City; two brothers, Douglas Robinson of Florida and Winfred “Redd” (Celestine) Robinson of Lumber City; 11 grandchildren, Rodney L., and (Katrina), Kwame F., Erika S., all of Indianapolis, Cassandra of Atlanta, Willie Jr. (Nikki) Cray of Buford, Courtney (Michelle) Cray of Seattle, Wash., Tonya (James) Faulk of Vidalia, Freddie Jr. of Dublin, Miranda of Eastman, Antuan “Dino” of Lumber City and Carlus Jevon of Lumber City; 16 great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many family and friends.
Active pallbearers were Aaron Clements, Winfred Robinson, Willie Tobler, Federick Clements, Willie Cray, and Wesley Boyd.
Music was rendered by Melsina Robinson and Bruce Mathis.
Thornton’s Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
