Died, Sunday, April 15, at 9:40 a.m., at his residence, 1161 North Fourth street, Thomas S. Strickland, aged 41 years, 6 months and 1 day. Mr. Strickland was born in this city Oct. 14, 1852 [note: stone says 1853], and had lived here all his life. He had been ill for some time with pneumonia and at times seemed to be on the road to recovery. He had shown an interest during his life in the material progress of the city and had done all in his power to advance its interests. He was the proprietor of a job printing establishment on Sixth street. He was a member of K. O. T. M. No 1 and Uniform Rank K. of P., No. 14. He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Miss Helen, one brother Edward, and one sister, Mrs. H. C. Sturtevant, all of this city. IL State Journal, Springfield, Il 4-16-1894
