Sandra Lou Allison, 69, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Private graveside services will be held at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, at the Urbandale Senior Center.
Sandra was born on February 16, 1936 to James Leo and Eloise I. Orr Geneva in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a 1954 graduate of Roosevelt High School and a 1958 graduate of Simpson College, earning a bachelor's degree in Music Education. Also in 1958, she married Harold Eugene "Gene" Allison in Des Moines. They made their home in Des Moines and Urbandale. Sandra was employed with the Urbandale School System as an elementary school teacher for 29 years, until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Urbandale.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Gene Allison of Urbandale; two sons, Craig Allison of Urbandale and Kent Allison and his wife Suzanne of Johnston; five grandchildren, Ashley Harshbarger and her husband Ben of Grimes, Austin Allison, Aryn Allison, Hannah Allison and Haden Allison, all of Urbandale; two step- grandchildren, Jessica Drake of Van Meter, IA and Chelsea Cornelison of Madison, WI; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Marie Harshbarger; two step-great-grandsons, Tristan and Mason Drake; several cousins and a host of friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents.
