From "Swaffard/Swafford Families in America" by Ray C. Swoffard, page 49, William Swafford born 1746 of Randopph County, N.C. The parents of William Swafford born 1746 are not known for certain. It has been speculated that he was the son of (Thomas Swafford born 1706) who was a QUAKER in Chester County, Pennsyslvania but no real proof of this has yet been discovered. SA 50.1 William Swafford (born 1746) was listed on the 1815 Randolph County, North Carolina Tax List, Capt. Hardy Ward's District, 340 acres located on Bush Creek and 120 acres located on Mill Creek. page 51. Members of New Garden Meeting, Quaker Church.

William Swafford died 8/27/1830-31 and his WILL is recorded in Randolph County, North Carolina, WILL BOOK: 6, page 128, State of North Carolina, Randolph County.
In the name of God Amen,--- I, William Swafford, of the county and state a
foresaid being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament and as for my estate I devide in the manner following:

1st. I give aklnd bequeathg to my wife Ellender three hundred and fortly acres of land on which I now live, all the household and kitchen furniture, one cow and calf, and the crop that may be on the said land at my decease, during her natural life and after her decease, the above mentioed premises to be divided bewteen my two sons Enoch and Joseph, in the following manner.

2nd. I give and bequeath to my son Enoch all of the above mentioned land on the west side of Bush Creek, to him and his heirs forever, 3rd. I give and bequeath to my son Joseph the balance of said tract of land--it being the part of the above mentioned tract of land on the east side of Bush Creek, to him and his heirs forever. The rest of my estate not mentioned above to be sold and equally divided between my other sons and daughters whose names are as follows: James, William, John, Isaac, Jeremiah, Nathan, Jacob, Nancy, Sarah, Ellender, Margaretm and the property left to my wife except the land at her decease to be sold and an equal divission made between my last above named sons and daughters and I do acknowledge this to be my last will and testament, revoking all other by me made, appointing James Swafford my executor this 27 August 1830. Signed in the presence of Jabez York and Nathan York/s/William(his X mark) Swafford.
