Evelyn was born on April 20, 1924 to William “Bill” Taylor and Calley Etta (Colston) Adair in Bomar, Oklahoma. She passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at Evergreen Care Center in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 95.
A resident of Love County most of her life, Evelyn was a graduate from Thackerville High School. She married Billy Peery Griffin on June 25, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1967. Evelyn worked at Marietta Sportswear for a few years but served her family as a homemaker for the biggest part of her life. She was an excellent seamstress. Evelyn left Marietta moving to Durant, Oklahoma and then Henderson, Tennessee to be near her daughter, Glenda. She was a member of Marietta Church of Christ then Durant Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by brother, Bert Martin; sister, Artie Mae Adair; brother, Thurman Adair; and sister, Clotilde Freeman.
Survivors include her daughter Glenda Wiley and husband Joe of Oologah, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Tommy Wiley and wife Trina of Oologah, and Jeana Conn and husband Jeremy of Claremore, Oklahoma; and three great-grandchildren, Gage Wiley, Jalynn Conn, and Avery Conn.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Conn, Alvin Freeman, Billy Freeman, Roger Griffin, Floyd Rodgers, and John Thompson.
