Mrs. Dorothy Turner Burnette, of Amelia, VA, died Saturday, July 21, 2007. She was born April 12, 1915, the daughter of the late Ethel Moody and Fitzhugh Lee Turner. Dorothy was a retired art teacher of Amelia County schools, having taught for over 30 years and was an artist specializing in old homes, court houses and barns. She was the widow of James Crawford Burnette. She is survived by three daughters, Lee Burnette Elam of Midlothian, Nancy Burnette Jones and her husband, Edward, of Nottoway County and Elizabeth "Jo" Burnette Cooper and her husband, Steven, of Mill Valley, CA. Dorothy is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, the Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Village Garden Club. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Amelia Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
