Joe Wendell Winberry, 80, of Sherwood, AR, went to his eternal home on January 1, 2020. He was born December 24, 1939 to Mike and Lois Winberry in Bodcaw, AR.

After graduating high school, he attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR. He joined the United States Air Force in 1959 and after serving 20 years he retired in 1979. He continued his working careers and retired from Federal Express and Arkansas Federal Credit Union.

Joe was a member of The Ridge Assembly of God in Sherwood where he was a deacon, elder and a board member for several years. He loved his church family and if he saw a car in the parking lot when driving by he would pull in and visit.

He enjoyed traveling, hiking and was always game for a good shopping trip especially for shoes, loved to Amazon shop and we are still receiving surprise packages. His hobbies were rebuilding computers, model trains, working outside in his shop, the garden, snacking and watching sports on TV with our dog Odin. Joe had a strong heart for giving and helping others. He was a very sociable person and never met a stranger, always made a friend wherever he went. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and he always called and checked on everyone.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Sprague Winberry, two children, Amy Longstreath of West Monroe, LA, and Karen Bland of Sherwood, AR, six grandchildren, Falen (Joe) Nugent of St. Cloud, MN, Meagan Holcomb (John) of Princeton, LA, Tristin and Harley Longstreath of West Monroe, LA, Austin Bland of Little Rock, AR and Claire Bland of Sherwood, AR, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members that he loved.
