Mrs. Rachel Matilda Downs Bishop, 88 of Rout 1, box 70, Rienzi, died Sunday, March 22,1992, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after an extended illiness.
Services were Tuesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at Rienzi Baptist Church with Bro. James H. Moore and Bro. Pete McCoy officiating. Burial was in the Booneville Cemt., McMillan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bishop was the widow of Jack Bishop. She was a housewife and a member of Rienzi Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one daugther, Hazel Isbell.
She is survived by four daughter, Mrs. Inez Williams of Memphis, Mrs .Prentiss Thornton,(Nellie) Mrs. Martha Robinson, and Mrs. Trenton Turvaville (Betty) all of Booneville; five sons Aaron Bishop (Vera) of Belmont, George Bishop (Inez) Victor Bishop (Joyce) Eugene Bishop Gevena) and Milton Bishop (Carolyn)all of Rienzi; 25 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Larry Isbell, Jackie Robinson, Richard Murphy, Jimmy Bishop, Kenneth Bishop and Bobby Bishop.

She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for many years. Her and Jack went there until they became to old to drive that far, then they joined Rienzi Baptist Church, which was near their home..
She married Andrew Jackson (Jack) Bishop on Aug. 16, 1924. Rev. Joseph Scuggs was carrying on a revival under a bush Arbor, they went to services in a buggy, when church was over they were married setting in the buggy.
She was also the Great-Grandmother of Morgan Michelle Hatfield and Trenton Brock Hatfield.
