"Prominent Covington Woman Dies – Wife of Judge I.E. Schoonover Passes Away at Danville Hospital, January 22 – Mrs. Margaret J. Schoonover, wife of Judge I. E. Schoonover, died at the hospital in Danville on last Friday afternoon, January 22nd, after a short illness. She had not been feeling well for some months and was having trouble with a swelling in her side, when it was determined to take her to the hospital about a month ago, for observation and treatment. It was found that one kidney was affected, and after treatment for some weeks, an operation was decided on. The operation disclosed the fact that there was a cancerous growth…… (middle section of obituary unreadable)

…She was a member of the library board; she was also a member of the Woman's Club and Rev. Strecker read a beautiful tribute prepared by the body for the funeral occasion. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, the casket being completely surrounded by them, and many were scattered about the room. A more gorgeous display of flowers, showing the sympathy of friends, has rarely been seen in this city.

At the close of the service the body was taken to the Wabash station and then to Attica, where it was laid to rest in the family burial ground. About thirty friends from here, beside the immediate family, accompanied the remains to Attica. The pall bears were V.E. Livengood, Lucas Nebeker, Oscar Phebus, Claude Philpott, J.M. Wilkey and Leroy Sanders.

When the train arrived at Attica the funeral cortege went at once to Riverside Cemetery…"
