Donna Lynn Gilbert, age 86 of Macon, died Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Macon Health Care. Donna was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 28, 1933 to Gilbert”Webb” and Alta Lavon (Whisenand) Gilbert. She married William Lawrence “Dean” Parker Jr. in Wichita, Kansas at the Episcopal Church on November 24, 1954. To this union three children were born, Michelle Parker on August 16, 1955 in Pratt, KS and she only lived three hours, William (Bill) Lawrence Parker III “Trey” in Topeka, KS on October 28, 1956 and Karen Elaine Parker on August 21, 1958 in Topeka, KS. This marriage ended in divorce. On August 8, 1964 she married Lawrence “Larry” Hosford of Bucklin, Missouri at the Methodist Church in Kansas City, KS. They taught together for twenty years, but the marriage ended in divorce after twenty-five years. They taught in Redfield, IA, Macks Creek, MO; Brookfield, MO; Coffey, MO; and then Donna taught in Dora, MO; Hayden Catholic High School in Topeka, KS and then as an adjunct Instructor of English at Ozark Technical Community College in Branson, MO. She also worked for Silver Dollar City in the basket shop and in the reservation call center and demonstrated spinning there. After a long spiritual journey Donna became Catholic in April 1990 having received instruction at Assumption Abbey in Ava, MO and confirmation at St. John Evangelist in Lawrence, KS.

She is survived by her son Bill Parker of Florida, granddaughter Sierra Constance Parker of St. Louis, MO; sisters Lydia (Kay) Whisenand-Gilbert of Macon, MO and Susan Ford, aka Cathrine Greene of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, former spouse Larry Hosford of Bucklin, nephews, nieces cousins and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Michelle and daughter Karen on October 23, 2008.

As were her wishes, cremation will be done and private interment at a later date will be in the Whisenand (Union Chapel) Cemetery in Macon. Memorials may be made to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund or the family and mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
