Charles died aged 83 at 72, Cheriton Road, Folkestone and was buried 16 May 1928.
In 1851 he was living in Folkestone, (possibly the Black Bull Road) with his parents, William Winton, 38, a railway labourer, and Sarah 34. He had 3 siblings, William 8, James 4 and Harriett 4 Months. They had two lodgers.
He married Jane on the 3 Apr 1867in Folkestone, Kent.
In 1871 he was a mariner; they were living at 17 New Zealand, Folkestone, with a daughter, Harriet F 11/12.
In 1881 he was a mariner; they were living at 103 Dover Street, Folkestone, with three children, Harriet 11, Alice 8 and Charles 3.
In 1885, December 10th he got his Masters certificate for a home trade passenger ship.
In 1901 he was a Master Mariner for the SECR; they were living at 72 Cheriton Road with two daughters, Harriet Frances 30 and Alice Elizabeth 27.
In 1911 he was a Captain steam ship, pensioned; they were living at 72 Cheriton Road, with three children, Alice 37, Charles D 33 and Horace D 15. They had been married for 44 years and had 4 children, 3 living in 1911.
