A French Huguenot, migrated to America seeking religious
freedom and economic opportunity. In 1719 he traveled on the
ship Phoenix to America from Amsterdam Holland,
settling at Moselem Springs, Pa; purchasing land from W. Penn.
He was a coach-maker, blacksmith, and operated a grist mill.
A father of nine: Catherina, Apollonia, Anna Maria, Helena,
Franzina, Peter, Christian, George, and Gaspard.

of German descent.
