Ruby A. Wiser, 85, Jefferson City, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at St. Mary's Health Center, Jefferson City. She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Cole County, the daughter of Ira and Martha Dawson Scott. She was married Oct. 14, 1933, in California to Herbert W. Wiser, who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1990.

She was a lifelong resident of Russellville until moving to Jefferson City in 1998. She attended school at Mount Carmel and Russellville. She worked for 22 years at the Missouri Department of Revenue, before retiring in October 1977. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Russellville, where she has been a member of the WMU, the choir, the building committee, and the ladies' quilting group. She served Meals on Wheels and taught the adult Sunday school class.

Survivors include three daughters, Rita Wiser, of the home, and Carol Shikles and Sonya Baysinger, both of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Wiser; three brothers, Earl Scott, Alva Scott, and Harley Scott; and two sisters, Bernice Payne and Inez Bernard.

Services were held Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Russellville, with Dr. Monte Shinkle and the Rev. Alan Earls officiating. Burial was in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville. Arrangements were under the direction of Scrivener-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville. Memorials may be made to the Mount Olive Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideon's International.
