DEATH OF MRS. PORTERFIELD
Succumbed After Week’s Illness with Pneumonia – Thirty Years Here
Mrs. Marietta Porterfield died on pneumonia Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. after a week’s illness. She was 88 years of age and had lived in Fremont since 1875. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow from the residence on East Fifth street, being attended only by relatives and close friends of the family.
Mrs. Porterfield was born in Chillicothe, O., and was married there shortly before she and her husband came west to Council Bluffs thirty-five years ago. They lived in Council Bluffs five years and then came to Fremont. Mr. Porterfield died in 1888. The surviving children are Jerome Porterfield of this city, Charles Porterfield of Seattle, Wash., and Robert Porterfield of Chicago. Rex Henry is a grandson of the deceased. Mrs. Porterfield was loved and respected in a large circle of acquaintances, and she was a woman of many excellent qualities. She was a member of the Presbyterian church from childhood and was a devout worker in the First Presbyterian church here.
