Richard Wesley French, age 75, passed away on December 20, 2019 in Columbus, Texas. He was born to Paul Richard and Ione Elizabeth (Chapman) French on July 11, 1944 in Baytown, Texas.
Richard worked as a taxi driver, a security guard for Thousand Oaks and also worked for McCoy's and Ace hardware stores at various times during his life. He donated to charities for veterans, children's hospitals and animals. He loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and baseball, but his favorite sport to watch was wrestling.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth French.
Richard is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary Ann (Walls) French; son, David Lackey and wife Susan of Grand Bay, Alabama; step-sons, Eddie Gundelach and wife Debra of Sheridan, Texas, Chris Gundelach and wife Crystal of Columbus, Texas, and Michael Nichols of Columbus, Texas; step-daughters, Rhonda Honeycutt and husband Kenny of Seabrook, Texas and Deborah Gonzales of Hallettsville, Texas; sister, Donna Clarrissimeaux and husband David of Orlando, Florida; brother, Gary French and wife Gwen of League City, Texas; grandchildren, Destiny Lackey and Megan Lackey; and numerous nephews, nieces and step-grandchildren.
Visitation for Richard will be on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. Funeral Service will be Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM, also at Henneke Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Usher officiating. Burial will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown, Texas at 2:30 PM.
