DUFFIELD, VA – Carson Arrington, 92 of Duffield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Nova Healthcare and Rehab. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County.
Carson was born in Fairview VA to the late William and Jennie Arrington on August 20, 1927. He attended Fairview High School and entered the Navy in 1945 during the end of World War II, serving 3 years where he was awarded the Victory Medal of WWII and an American Area Good Conduct Medal. He worked at Foote Mineral, Penn Dixie, and Montgomery Wards.
Along with his parents Carson was preceded in death by his son, Ernie Kyle (1995); daughter, Janet Anita Franklin (2008); son- in- law, Phillip Dishner (2008); brothers, Omar, Ora, and June (Junior) Arrington; sisters, AnnaBelle Gilreath, Juanita McMillan, and Ona Goins.
Carson is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virgie Berry Arrington; his daughter, Carolyn Dishner of Johnson City; his daughter in law, Carolyn Shuler Arrington, Kingsport; son- in-law, William (Bill) Franklin, Duffield; grandchildren, Jason Arrington of Tampa FL, Crystal Arrington, of Kingsport, Miranda Medlin(Mike) of Simpsonville SC, Kelly Franklin Hood (Jake) of Duffield, John Franklin of Duffield; Marla Schaaf (John) of Bristol; Dianna Dishner Stocton (Aaron) of Johnson City; great grandchildren, Kyler and Kinley Medlin, Ty, Jett, and Josie Hood; Tristan and Jace Wootten, River and Reed Stocton; Along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be, Hoyt Bledsoe and Lloyd Love.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Nova Health Care, Lloyd and Christine Love, Hoyt and Phyllis Bledsoe, Dr. James Bryston Winegar, and many caregivers especially Mary Ward for all their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Village Baptist Church in Carson’s memory.
