Gayle was born on February 22, 1939, in Corsicana to A.C. and Jean McAfee Gray. She was raised in Emhouse, Texas and attended Emhouse High School. She worked at Medical Arts Clinic and Navarro College. She loved telling stories, sitting on the porch with friends, and selling her handmade crafts. She was always ready to put on a show. She will be remembered as a fun-loving, passionate woman who made a life for everyone around her more exciting and full of laughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Billy Hugh Horton, Sr.; a son, Stan Horton; and sisters, Billie Ann Owen and Betty Lou Eastland.
She is survived by her son, Billy Hugh Horton, Jr. and his wife, Lynette; grandsons, Justin Horton and his wife, Kristin, Brandon Horton and his wife, Dana, and Gregory Luke; granddaughters, Brooke Pittman and her husband, Tony, Emily Myanna and her husband, Tegra, Kara Welch and her husband, Landin, and Taylor Luke; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Moore and Patsy Melton; bonus sister, Jean Whitten; a large extended family, and a wide circle of adopted grandchildren who loved their Memaw and Pepaw.
