Elżbieta Piotrowska, 57, of Clonmore, Ireland, tragically passed away from a gruesome attack on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Her son Tomasz Krzysztof attacked her with an axe and decapitated her. He had previously developed psychiatric issues from drug use since two years and had been admitted to hospital. Her girlfriend called to take her shopping in Dundalk. The doorbell rang several times but there was no answer and when she looked through the letterbox, she noticed a light on inside and heard the dog barking. She tried calling her cellphone and heard it ringing inside. She went to the rear of the property to get access through the patio doors, which were unlocked and she found her lying in a quantity of blood in the hallway. She was decapitated and her head was further down the hallway while a broken part of a knife blade was also found on her. There were multiple stab wounds to her shoulder, neck and right arm. A small axe and a number of Stanley knives, one of which was blood-stained were found close to her body and it was determined that they had been used to remove the head.

She was also a devoted parent to her daughter Justyna, who recently got married and moved back to Poland. Elzbieta had moved her son from Poland to Ireland in a bid to keep him safe from criminals. She and her husband Krzystof, also secured employment for Tomasz at the Ardee company where they both worked, as they desperately tried to assimilate him into Irish life. Elżbieta initially worked cleaning houses while Krzystof worked in the wax shed at Coach Trim. They were both very hard-working respectful people. When Tomasz was coming over after them, he begged to get a job and was recommended to join playing rugby. Some time after that, he was let go from the company after an incident when he threatened another employee.

His parents spent almost every penny of their savings, €7,000 in total, paying off drugs debts their son had accrued to local criminals. In spite of all this misfortune, a former Olympic gymnast with Poland, made an asset of themselves to the community of Ardee. Elżbieta would decorate her home for Christmas and it would be like something out of a magazine. It was artistic and the house was always spotless and beautiful.

She was repatriated to Poland for graveside services. Every smallest donation will be very helpful and appreciated by the family.
