Bertha Louise (Murray) (Hubert) Mahaffey was born on July 29, 1879 in Tennessee, and she was the daughter of Samuel Cochran Murray (1823–1909) and Malinda "Lynda" (Collins) Murray (1837–1917).
She was married 1st to Joseph Henry Hurbert (1875–1905), and she was married 2nd about 1904 to John Franklin Mahaffey Sr (1870–1934), the son of Noah Mahaffey.
Living at 2305 Highland Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, Bertha was 75 years old and a widow when she died at home on July 14, 1955 of a coronary thrombosis. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
