Alexander Hawver born at Duchess county. New York. October 28, 1826, died at Dedham. Carroll county, Iowa, aged 88 years, 3 months, 4 days. His boyhood days were spent on farms in New York and Illinois, from which latter place he migrated to Iowa in 1878, locating on a farm in Audubon county, Iowa, from which place he came to Dedham which has ever since been his place of residence.

His marriage to Jane Donaldson took place at Polo, Illinois, in March 1857 to which union two sons were born. The eldest, Dr. B. H. Hawver, who passed away at Dedham, Iowa, July 4, 1903, and Grant Hawver, the youngest, who was called to his heavenly home when only two years of age. Those of the immediate relatives left to mourn a husband and father’s loss are Mrs. Jane Hawver, widow of the deceased; Mrs. Dr. Hawver of Saint James, Minnesota; Mrs. Maude Hicks of Hardin, Montana; Mrs. Flossie Krall and daughter, Anna; Margerate of Saint James, Minnesota.
Mr. Hawver was ever an enthusiastic and consistent lodge member, having been affiliated with the Masonic fraternity for a period of over sixty years and was one of the oldest Odd Fellows in Iowa, having joined the latter organization in the year 1859, in the state of New York. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Peer at the M. E. church Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment was made in Dedham cemetery. The bereaved have the heart felt sympathy of the community. Those present from a distance were Mrs. Anna Hawver of Saint James, Minnesota; Harry Bruce and S. W. Bruce of Jackson, Minnesota; and Mr. and Mrs. Sime Border of Coon Rapids.
