John Keane enlisted on 12 April 1915 and served with the Australian Army, 26th Battalion, A Company, A.I.F. during World War One. His Unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 24 May 1915. John served at Gallopoli, in December 1915 he suffering from severe Frost Bight to his feet, he was admitted to the General Hospital at Cairo in January 1916 and eventually on 03 March 1916 he was discharged from duty because of the Frost Bight and returned to Australia.
John Keane passed away on 06 June 1946 at at Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
