The accident to Mrs. Thos. Bell of Edmond proved fatal. The body was buried at the Forehand cemetery last Monday afternoon and a large number of friends of the neighborhood were there. Deceased was loved by all who knew her. Bro. Wood of Edmond had charge of the funeral services.Sarah was the 11th child of William and Sarah (Holmes) Lloyd, the 6th of 7 daughters.

On 24 Dec 1866 in Lambton, Ontario, she married Thomas Bell of New Glasgow, Ontario, the 30 year old son of Scottish-born parents Archibald and Agnes (Hood) Bell.
(Thomas was a recent widower, having lost his first wife Elizabeth Lloyd - no known relation to Sarah - in July of 1865)

They had 11 children, most born in Ontario and the last two being born in Kansas, the first stop in the US (in the late 1870's) before their settlement in Oklahoma later.
They were:

Agnes Mary BELL,
Jessie Dora BELL (infant),
Harriet Laura BELL,

(The first three of these - William, Archibald, and Robert - were from Thomas' first marriage to Elizabeth)


"THE EDMOND ENTERPRISE" (Edmond, Oklahoma County, OK) of 22 Jan 1903, said:

"Mrs. Bell who was hurt in a runaway last week, died at 7 o'clock Saturday morning.
Sarah Lloyd was born in Ontario, Canada, October 7, 1843, was married to Thos. Bell in 1866. In 1878 they moved to Kansas where they lived until the spring of 1890, when they moved to Oklahoma. They were blessed with 8 children 6 of whom are living, 3 in Kansas and 3 in Oklahoma. She was 59 years and 3 months old at the time of her death. The remains were taken to Yukon for interment."
