Steve is a graduate of Laurel High School and went on to complete a four (4) Year Apprenticeship in the HVAC Program through Howard Community College.
Steve worked at Kimbrough Army Hospital at Fort Meade since 1992 for several contractors, and most recently as the Project Manager for EMCOR.
He has always been known to many as the hardest working man and more recently over the years as a “Superman”. He battled long and hard against his cancer diagnosis all the while working a demanding full time job. Over the years he learned to take time to enjoy the things he loved. Steve’s number one favorite pastime was playing poker at the Horseshoe casino most Saturday nights. He loved riding his John Deere tractor to keep up with his perfect lawn and treasured spending time with his family at his brother Mike’s beach house in Ocean City. He also enjoyed playing golf with Mr. Lamar. He often loved to reminisce about spending time at his grandmother’s house with all of his brothers and sisters.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife Karen, daughter Samantha, and son Brady, brother Michael Grimes (Lynda), and sisters Sharon Erb (Carl) and Shirley Cole (Dennis), sister-in-law Marsha Grimes and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Basil Frank and Lucile Mae Grimes and brother Richard Grimes.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tate Cancer Center located at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
