CLEARFIELD - Lynn James Wilcox, 93, Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away June 13, 2007 of causes due to age. Dad was born in Syracuse, Utah to William Henry and Emily Barber Wilcox. He was the sixth of 10 children. He lived his entire life in Syracuse and Clearfield. His family once resided in the little log cabin that now sits behind the Syracuse Museum. Dad married Mom, Bernice Criddle, May 29, 1940. Together they raised their six children. Dad was always busy. He farmed most of his life, but his love was that of an educator for the Weber and Davis School Districts. He taught for 38 years and as the basketball coach at Davis High successfully lead his team to State Champions in 1949. He went on to be the principal of Sunset Jr. High for fourteen years, retiring in 1978. Dad taught us to work hard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with all his family. He loved the ranch in Wyoming and has many special friends he made there. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and was able to attend games as recently as this past February. Dad was a High Priest in the Syracuse 7th Ward. He served in the Sunday School, The MIA and that of Scoutmaster, where he was instrumental in assisting numerous young men obtain the highest rank in scouting, that of Eagle Scout. Dad is survived by his wife Bernice, daughter Itha (Jack) Rampton, Salt Lake City; sons Lynn (Shirley), Salt Lake City; Dean (Lana), Evanston, WY; Don (Nancy) Petersboro, UT; Doug (Kathy) Syracuse; and Con (Jeri), Clearfield, sister Louise Johnson, Orem; 30 grandchildren, 23 great-grand-children, and three on the way. He was preceded by his parents, brothers David, Hugh, Harold, Elmer, Myron, Darvil, Ben, one sister, Mary Miller, and one granddaughter, Ashley Eve Wilcox. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse 7th Ward, 1625 South 1100 West. Friends and family may call on Friday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the caregivers that tenderly cared for Dad his last two weeks.
