Odella Elynore Sparstad was born on April 7, 1911, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota to Ole C. and Olina T. (Hamre) Sparstad. She was baptized on May 21, 1911, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. She grew up in Sacred Heart and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1928. She continued her education at St. Cloud Teachers College where she also enrolled in a special music course.
Following her education, Elynore returned to Sacred Heart and worked at the Sacred Heart Hotel, which her parents owned and operated. She enjoyed meeting the many different and interesting people who stayed at the hotel. She later moved to Texas and lived there a year and then moved back to Sacred Heart.
Elynore was an active and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. She served as organist, Sunday school teacher, and the secretary of the Luther League. She currently was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was active in the choir and WELCA. Elynore was also a volunteer at the Sacred Heart Museum. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, reading, cooking and playing the piano. She accompanied students on the piano for Mr. Olson during Spring music contests and she also played for many years at the RenVilla Nursing Home when Rev. Peterson had services there.
Survivors include her niece Joy Ruth Risk, her grand nephew, Mark Risk, and her two grand nieces, Kimberly and Kathleen, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Clarence, her brothers Kenneth and Thomas, and her sisters Florence and Dorothy.
