Barbara Jean Hale was born April 23, 1948 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Glen Tuttle and June (Gentry) Tuttle. As a child, she moved with her mother to Tulsa, and subsequently, to Oklahoma City. She worked at Dennis Donuts through high school in order to buy her first car. Shortly after graduation from Capitol Hill High School in 1966, she married Robert Lynn Hale and they made their home in Oklahoma City.

Barbara worked briefly with her husband at Western Electric before settling in at home to raise a family. She and Bob have three children: two sons and a daughter, and welcomed many of their kid’s friends into their home as extended family. Barbara was a Cub Scout leader for her oldest son, and she was an active member of her church as a deacon’s wife. She and Bob first worked in the children’s department, then subsequently as youth ministers. She served as children’s department director for many years, and as church clerk. Bob and Barbara lived in Luther, OK for a while where they hosted the annual church cook-out and hayride.

She worked as a cashier after the kids were grown, first at a gift shop, then a pharmacy, and later for Albertson’s Grocery. She learned cake decorating and enjoyed decorating cakes for her grandkids birthdays. Barbara had a sense of adventure and liked meeting new people; she and Bob have shared many travels together since retiring to Yukon, OK in 2015. With her optimism, compassion for the underdog, and good-natured demeanor, she has known many friends. Her spunk and charm endeared her to the hearts of her family.

Barbara passed away Monday morning, November 25, 2019, at OU Medical Center in OKC while battling with cancer. Barbara walked one day at a time, trusting God, and we believe she now gazes upon the face of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 29, 2019, at her home church:
Southern Temple Baptist Church
1821 S. High Ave, OKC
At 2 PM.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Lynn Hale, three children: Jeff Hale, and wife Amy of Midwest City, OK, Stacey Knapp, and husband George of Edmond, OK, and Bryan Hale and wife, Sarah, of Moore, OK. She is survived by eleven grandchildren: Zachary and Logan Wright, Skylar and Hanna Hale, Gavin, Emma, Garrison, and Graham Knapp, and Jaylee, Jordan, and Griffin Hale.
