Ruth Elizabeth Lea Day, 89, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, Dec. 30, 2009, with her loving family by her side.

She was the daughter of the late Sarah Elizabeth Wright Lea and Leach Lea Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harve B. Day Jr.; sister, Anna Mae Ross; and her brothers: the Rev. Lester Lea, Fletcher Lea and Evan Lea.

She worked as a payroll clerk in the chair manufacturing business for many years including Dan Dee Manufacturing and Collins Manufacturing.

She enjoyed gospel music, reading and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Philippi Baptist Church and a former member of the Clingan Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Hooker and her husband, the Rev. Samuel R. Hooker; grandson, Jason Hooker and his wife, Kasie; her granddaughter, Tara Denton and her husband, the Rev. Chad Denton; great-grandchildren: Sam Hooker, Daniel Denton, Elizabeth Hooker, Eil Denton and Ali Hooker; brothers: Leach Lea Jr. and Edward Lea and his wife, Glenda, all of Cleveland; her special neighbors, Ron and Beverly Jones of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Lynn Mooreland and Samuel Hooker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jason Hooker, Chad Denton, Heath Day, Tony Day, Ron Jones, Tracy Fansler and Darrell Day serving as pallbearers.

A dove release will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
