Shirley Louise Reid, age 84, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 in Palestine Regional Hospital. Shirley was born August 23, 1935 in the Liberty Hill community to parents, James Loys Hollis and Lillian Louise Kellum Hollis. She worked at Houston County Hospital for over 19 years and continued as a caregiver after her retirement. Shirley was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland and enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing and spending time at the Coon Pond Deer Lease with her husband. She loved her kids and grandkids and never met a stranger. If you were with Shirley, there was no such thing as a quick trip to the store. What should only take ten minutes would be an hour or more because she knew and talked to everyone there. Shirley will be dearly missed by all.

Shirley is survived by sons, Billy Floyd Reid and wife, Sandi of Lovelady, Randy Reid and wife, Delisa of Liberty Hill; daughters-in-law, Colleen Reid of Lovelady, Dianne Reid of Lovelady; brothers, Jessie Hollis and wife, Cathy of Terre Haute, IN, Doug Hollis and wife, Beverly of Latexo, Wayne Hollis and wife, Janice of Crockett; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous other loving relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, Floyd Reid; sons, James Burton Reid, Charles Lynn Reid, Frank Earl Reid; brother, Jamie Hollis; sisters, Nelda Burton and Eloise Richardson.

Funeral services for Shirley Louise Reid will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Fellowship Church, Rev. Josh Mills officiating. Interment to follow in Weches Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Fellowship Church.
