Death of Aged Resident
Mrs. Philomenia Kasper Passed Away Last Night at Louisville
Mrs. Philomenia Kasper, a widow of Mathias Kasper, and a well-known resident of this city passed away at 9 o'clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. T. Welsh, at Louisville, Ky., following a long illness with complications. She had been bedfast the past nine months.
The deceased was 77 years of age and was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. She came with Mr. Kasper to Madison in 1884 when the Eagle cotton mill was moved here from that city. Mr. Kasper had always been connected with the cotton mill and at the time of his death eleven years ago was plant superintendent. The family home was at 413 East First Street.
Mrs. Kasper was a devout member of St. Mary's Church and also held membership in the Altar Society of the church. She was a loving and indulgent mother and a kind neighbor, having a wide circle of friends who are deeply saddened by her passing.
Surviving is two daughters, Mrs. Welsh, of Louisville, at whose home she died, and Mrs. Frank Waters, of Swissvale, Pa.; five sons, August M., Oscar and Herman J. Kasper, of Indianapolis; John Kasper, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Charles N. Kasper, of this city. She is also survived by a sister and brother, Miss Mary Hildebrandt and Nicholas Hildebrandt, of Pittsburgh, and twenty-seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren among whom is Mary Jane Cox, of this city.
The remains were brought overland last night in the Lytle funeral coach and were taken to the Lytle chapel, but this afternoon is to be removed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles N. Kasper, 510 East Main Street.
Funeral services are to be conducted Monday morning at St. Mary's church with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Funeral of Mrs. Philomenia Kasper
Funeral services for Mrs. Philomenia Kasper, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. T. Welsh at Louisville last Wednesday, were held at St. Mary's Church at 8:30 o'clock this morning and was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends. The many beautiful floral tributes gave mute evidence of the high esteem and love in which Mrs. Kasper was held.
A Solemn High Mass was celebrated for the repose of the soul of the decedent by Rev. Anthony Kasper, of Greensburg, a nephew of Mrs. Kasper, with Rev. Robert Lehnert as a deacon and Rev. Henry Bilz as sub-deacon. Rev. George Pohl was master of ceremonies.
Following the church services, the remains were conveyed to St. Joseph's Cemetery and tenderly laid to rest with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Messrs. Clement Hunger, Charles N. Horuff, William Voelker, Jacob Lucht, Henry G. Schneider and John B. Niesse.
