The world lost a wonderful, hard-working man on November 16, 2019 when H.B. Minney, 90, slipped away to be with our Lord.

H.B. was born on May 15, 1929 in Terlton, Oklahoma to Jim and Josie (Sparks) Minney. He graduated from Blackburn High School and later met the love of his life, Joy Hallum. They were married on February 18, 1950 and then had two children, Raymond and Vicki.

H.B. wore many hats and always enjoyed hard work and keeping his hands busy. He went from harvesting in many different states in his early teens, to picking cotton in California, to working construction (some of the major highways and airports that we enjoy today), to owning ready mix plants in both Dewey and Bartlesville, then moving to Maramec where he eventually was a Pawnee County Commissioner for two terms until December 1990 when he retired. After retirement he started working on tractors (especially Fords), and operating his backhoe which he enjoyed immensely. He also loved putting out a garden. He would sit in his lawn chair at the end of the garden each evening, keeping his eyes on it. He said he loved to watch things grow.

He had a quick wit, always ready with a joke, most of which he made up. He enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh. People loved to visit with H.B. and Joy as they always made everyone, even strangers, feel welcome.

Survivors include children Raymond Minney and his wife Connie of Maramec, Oklahoma, and Vicki Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren Melissa Young of Owasso, Oklahoma, Lori Buchanan and her husband Justin of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Bobby Young and his wife Cherissa of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Brian Young of Owasso, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren Aubrey Buchanan of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Piper Young of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Bryson, Brock and Bailey Young of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and sister Waltina Day of Choctaw, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joy (after 66 years of marriage); grandson Mike Minney; his parents; brothers J.E. Minney, Arthur Minney, J.H. Minney, LeRoy Minney, Harley Carlile, Albert Carlile, Ernest Carlile, Arthur Carlile, and Buster Carlile; sisters Alma Pennington, Jean Friend, Violet Whiles, Lucille Long, and Jewel Mills.

Graveside services will be held at the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma on Wednesday, November 20, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
