David Lynn Bausell, 48, of Surry, VA died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Petersburg and had been a life long resident of this area. David was a former boat captain with American Cruise Lines and was a member of the Jefferson Lodge #62 AF&AM located in Surry. He was a retired firefighter with Henrico County. David was the son of the late Billy Jim Bausell. He is survived by his wife, Mona Moore Bausell of Surry, his parents, Thelma Setchel Mitchell and his father Oakey Mitchell of Chester, three sisters, Deborah B. Mabe of Chesterfield, Sylvia B. Crosby of Chester, Tracey M. Watts of Manteo, NC, one brother, Bruce O. Mitchell of Chester, several nieces, nephews and great nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 31, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 1, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ray Rowland, pastor of Surry United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Surry County, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
