Mr. Stanley M. LaMont, age 94 of Madison, formerly of the Willow Lake and Huron communities died in his home in Madison on Monday afternoon, February 28, 2005.

Stanley Mart LaMont was born on July 14, 1910 in Rosedale Township, Clark County, west of Willow Lake, SD, the son of Guy and Lucy (Wold) LaMont. On October 16, 1910 he was baptized at Birch Creek, MN by Pastor N.G. Nelson. He attended country school in Rosedale Township and graduated from Willow Lake High School. During the early 1930's he was employed in the Conservation Corps Camp in the Black Hills region.

On October 8, 1938 Reverend Sander Tollefson united him in marriage to Dorothy Chamberlain in the American Lutheran Church at Huron. The couple lived and farmed in Rosedale Township until moving to Huron in 1982. While living in Rosedale Township, he served as treasurer of the township for 27 years and was active in Grace Lutheran Church at Willow Lake. After moving to Huron he joined the American Lutheran Church. In October of 1995, due to failing health, they moved to Madison to be near their daughter. After moving to Madison they joined the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Besides his love of the land and farming, he loved spending time with and keeping track of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife of 66 years, Dorothy of Madison, daughters, Judith Tarpley and husband James and Mary and husband James Brown both of Madison, sons, Byron LaMont and wife Bonnie of Fremont, Nebraska, Bennie LaMont and wife Debra of Ellendale, ND and James LaMont and wife Carolyn of Willow Lake, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a brother, Walter LaMont and wife Olive of Willow Lake, brother-in-law Vernon Neuberger of Clark, nieces and nephews.
