She was born September 6, 1932 in Callaway County the daughter of the late Richard Coats and Sally Ann Clayborne.
After losing her birth mother at an early age, her father met and married Henrietta Coats and she helped raise Cecelia as her own.
On March 25, 1950 she was united in marriage to Roy R. Hicks and they shared their lives together for the next 50 years until his passing on June 27, 2000.
Cecelia was a devoted worker and was employed with the University of Missouri for over 40 years in housekeeping. When she was not busy working she enjoyed playing bingo, going to card parties, going to the casino, or just taking it easy and watching Walker Texas Ranger.
Above all else she loved to spend time with her family and her grandkids.
Cecelia is survived by her daughter: Linda Brown (Charles Cooper) ; nine grandchildren: Donna Simmons (Clifford Lake), Cassandra Collins, Monica Simmons (Isaac Prince), Benita Harris (Terry), Larry Galbreath, Linda Rodriquez, Regina Davis, Damon Davis, Michael Davis; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Hicks; son Larry G. Hicks; grandson Thomas C.C. Simmons Jr.; one great-granddaughter Masherra Simmons; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Parker-Millard Funeral Service, immediately followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Columbia Cemetery.
