Angelo (Snake) Cerroni passed away peacefully in Tooele on February 28, 2018. Ang was born in Tooele to Antonio and Antonina (Frattarelli) on April 10, 1928. He was the last of seven children whose parents migrated to America from Italy.

Ang graduated from Tooele High School where he excelled in football and basketball. He attended Westminster College and played ball. Ang served his country during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was in the Special Services, where he played baseball throughout Europe and Africa.

Ang married Dorothy McMurray April 8, 1961. They became proud parents to Paul Anthony and Maria Andanean.

Ang worked at Tooele Army Depot where he retired, then started work with Tooele City Parks and Recreation. He maintained the swimming pool and the ballparks throughout the community. He was the caretaker of the Dow James Ballpark, which he and the “Old Timers Association” turned the cities’ dump into one of the most beautiful ballparks in the State of Utah. Ang coached for the AAA Salt Lake Gulls and was the ground keeper at Derks Field. They won the Pacific Coast League Championship in 1978. He also coached at the University of Utah.

Ang coached Tooele’s American Legion team for as long as we can remember. He touched many young men’s lives over the years. No matter where you go someone knows Ang “The Godfather of Baseball.”

Ang is survived by his wife Dottie (THE BOSS); children Paul (Jen) and Maria Gochis; grandchildren Matthew and Alex Gochis and his best pal Yogi (who he loved unconditionally), Elizabeth; step grandchildren; sister-in-law (Mary); many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ang was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters Aldeana (Rudy), Fyreno (Bernice), Bionda (Roger), Renaldo (Phyllis), Joe, and Quetti (Palmina); brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated March 9, 2018, at St. Marguerite’s Church, 510 East Vine Street in Tooele at 3:30 p.m. Friends may call at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at the Tooele Cemetery with Military honors. A “Celebration of Life” will follow at the Tooele B.P.O. Elks Lodge, 61 North Main Street, Tooele, Utah.
