MICHAEL JOSEPH DZIEDZIC With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Michael Joseph Dziedzic on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He is survived by his daughter Glenoria, son Wade (Heather), grandchildren Joey, Gavin and Ricci, brothers Kasimir (Marie), Eddie (Helen), Peter, Frank (Diane), Victor (Charlene) and Andy (Jeanie), sisters Rose, Theresa (Cliff) and Carol (Tom), nieces and nephews, family friends Lori and Shawn Hughes, Jadyn and Abbie, extended family, and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his wife Sophie in 1978, infant son Anthony, his parents, 12 siblings, and in-laws. Mike was born November 18, 1929 on the family farm in Polson, MB, the 12th of 23 children. A hard working man all his life, he epitomized the term "Jack-of-all-trades". Mike and Sophie were foster parents until Sophie's passing, opening their home and hearts to scores of children in need. He loved being outdoors, whether camping, gardening, mushroom picking, driving horses on a trail ride, or just sitting on the steps. Because of his love, support, and hard work, Blackjack Kennels was able to produce many top winning Basset Hounds. We enjoyed so many road trips to shows, sightseeing along the way. He loved chatting with the kennel clients, and handing out treats to all who stayed over. Mike was proud to have served as Equipment Manager for the East Side Eagles Football Club. He happily worked many hours every May over the last 14 years on the Children's Wish Fundraiser based at the family farm. He was called "Uncle Mike" by more than family, because his warm and welcoming nature drew everyone close. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Green Acres Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 14, 1:00 p.m., at St. Emile's Roman Catholic Church, 566 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's memory to the Children's Wish Foundation Manitoba Nunavut Chapter, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or CancerCare Manitoba, would be gratefully appreciated. Green Acres Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
