John Christian Hildebrand Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

John was born December 10, 1956 in Morrison, Illinois. He was baptized on Christmas day, 1956, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Sterling, Il. He was confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls on May 30, 1971.

John graduated from Rock Falls High School and joined the US Navy. He served in the Pacific on the USS Cleveland based in Long Beach, CA.

After leaving the navy, John was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, and then in the construction industry.

Later, after receiving additional training, he worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Aurora, Illinois where he was always a favorite of the patients in his care. That experience and skill was invaluable when he returned to Rock Falls in 2017 to selflessly provide full-time care during his father's end-of-life needs.

John lived a full life, enjoying foreign and domestic travels. He especially enjoyed family retreats in Minocqua, Wisconsin.

He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, always willing to lend a hand, with a good sense of humor. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Christian Hildebrand Sr. He is survived by his mother, Arlene Hildebrand; sister Dr. Susan (Mark) Gould; brother Paul (Lisa) Hildebrand; nieces Natalie Kuliczkowski and Dr. Hannah Hildebrand; nephews Jacob (Kelli) Gould and Hans (Caitlin) Hildebrand; and great nieces and nephews Wyatt, Susan, and Holly Kuliczkowski, Alexander, Nicholas, Joshua and Oliver Gould, Sloan, Emily and Lacy Hildebrand.

Visitation will be Saturday November 23, 2019 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 435 Martin Road, Rock Falls, IL., followed by an 11:00 funeral service. Committal will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL. Arrangements by McDonald Funeral Homes.
