He married Marge Strohmeier on April 21, 1942, in Ellis.
He was a retired farmer-stockman. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Ellis, and the Rural Water Association.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Gary, Ellis, and Larry, Abilene; a daughter, Donna Honas, Ellis; two sisters, Mildrew Jinks, Ellis, and Eleanore Dreiling, Hays; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, three brothers, Joe, Nick and Paul, and a sister, Mary Kohl.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis, with Father Kevin Weber officiating; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Wasinger Funeral Chapel, Ellis. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to the church.
